Gravel with Palladio: touring the villas of Vicenza and Bassano

Two days to discover the wonders of Palladio, cycling through the provinces of Padua, Vicenza and Treviso, among villas, walled towns and places of history.

Let’s pedal with Palladio! Travelling between Padua, Vicenza and Treviso, we will be able to marvel at some of the most beautiful works of the great genius from Vicenza, such as the famous Rotonda and the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza, while also discovering some of the most characteristic towns in these provinces: Bassano del Grappa and its Ponte degli Alpini, Castelfranco Veneto, the birthplace of Giorgione, or Marostica, the town of chess.

Day 1
Morning meeting in Limena (PD) for a briefing with the guide. After getting the bikes ready, we set off along the Brenta cycle route to the junction with the Treviso-Ostiglia cycle route, in the direction of Vicenza. Our first stop is Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta, followed by the famous Villa Capra, or the Rotonda, before reaching Vicenza. Here, we will explore the center and admire works such as the Basilica Palladiana, with a lunch break before proceeding to Bassano del Grappa. We will visit Marostica, known for its living chess game, and end the day in Bassano del Grappa at the Ponte degli Alpini, where we will sample the local aperitif Mezo&Mezo. 100 km, difference in altitude 300 m.

Day 2
We leave Bassano del Grappa and head towards the elegant village of Asolo, known as the city of a hundred horizons, where we will take a break. The journey continues along the Sentiero degli Ezzelini towards Castelfranco Veneto, the birthplace of Giorgione. After lunch, we head to Padua, following an unpaved bicycle path. Once in the city, we take a tour of Padua's historic squares and sample the iconic local Spritz. Our journey ends at the meeting point, where we will say goodbye in anticipation of our next adventure. 100 km, difference in altitude 700 m.
