A hidden gem of Veneto
Vicenza is one of Veneto’s hidden gems: an elegant art city shaped by the work of Andrea Palladio, whose architecture can be found throughout the historic centre. The Basilica Palladiana, the Teatro Olimpico and the city’s museums make it a fascinating stop for art and architecture lovers.
But Vicenza is also a city to enjoy at a slower pace. Compared with the busier streets of Venice, Verona or Padua, its historic centre feels calm and easy to explore, with beautiful squares, cafés and local life around every corner.
Just outside the city, Palladio’s famous Villa La Rotonda sits among the countryside and is one of his most celebrated works. From here, cycling routes lead towards Lake Fimon, a quiet natural area where your clients can leave the city behind and spend some time surrounded by nature.
Nearby your clients can find Marostica known for its medieval walls and famous chess square. Further north, Bassano del Grappa sits along the Brenta River, surrounded by mountains that frame the town like a natural amphitheatre.
The Ponte degli Alpini crosses the Brenta and connects the two sides of Bassano, offering one of the most characteristic views of the town and its mountains. Bassano is also famous for its grappa and for its many small bars and cafés, which give the historic centre a lively, local atmosphere throughout the day.
The area is easy to explore by bike, with routes connecting the city and countryside and leading towards places such as Lake Fimon.
For your clients, Vicenza and its surroundings offer a chance to combine Palladian architecture, medieval villages, cycling, local food and wine, and everyday Veneto.
